In this review, nitrogen-related optical centers in natural and synthetic diamond are summed up in details.Different aggregations and concentration of nitrogen are considered to be the origin of different nitrogen-related optical centers.The structures and properties of the optical centers are illuminated by modeling of the diamond lattice.Both colorations of diamond and some other particular properties of the optical centers can be widely applied.Some interesting applications of N-related centers are introduced, and some treatments for modifying the coloration and deliberately creating those centers are discussed.N-related centers in diamond are very important in many high-tech realms in the future.Thus the form mechanism, structures and physic properties of N-related centers should be studied further.
