PJM INTERCONNECTION OPENADR 2.0 ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY RESOURCE PILOT - (PPT)

This paper outlines the history and recent advances in automated demand response (AutoDR) and the details of a successful IPKeys' pilot project with PJM. The recent completion of the Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) 2.0 profile provided an open standards framework for testing and certification of AutoDR software and equipment. Several representative types of customers and energy control devices were signaled during this pilot. Details concerning the equipment used, implementation methodology, and lessons learned have demonstrated that OpenADR 2.0 is capable of low cost, highly secure automated demand response signaling, price based demand response signaling and transfer of near real time telemetry needed for modern Smart Grid applications.
