Due to the possible relationship between anthropogenic CO2 and global warming, CO2 capture from power plants has attracted increased attention. Among the current CO2 capture technologies (e.g. solvents, membranes, solid sorbents), amine scrubbing has been used in industry for CO2 capture. However, this process requires intensive regeneration energy and presents problems with amine loss and oxidative degradation, equipment corrosion, foaming, etc. By contrast, amine-based solid sorbents are believed to substantially decrease energy requirements for regeneration and to eliminate corrosion problems.
