Simultaneous and Similar Ideas with John Caulfield

Early in our careers, John Caulfield and I simultaneously had similar ideas in the field of holography and optics. I'll discuss two. The first was that, unknown to each other, he published a paper and I filed a patent on the same topic at about the same time. The other topic was one that he and I worked on together to apply for a patent on a topic that we then knew was of mutual interest.
