MELANOPIC ASSESSMENT OF LIGHT - STANDARDIZATION ACTIVITIES

Assessment of the potential of light to elicit biological effects is essential for the design of lighting installations which go beyond just enabling good vision. In order to do this assessment in an agreed and uniform way, standards are required. Standards are appropriate to define the base for transferring scientific knowledge into praxis. As biological effects of light are more and more being used in applications there is already an urgent need for those standards. They define a compromise of science, public and social requests, economic industry interests and the overall common interest to advance developments in the common interest of our society.
