The paper presents the performance analysis of a Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) channel estimator integrated in a complex, OFDM-based system-the IEEE WLAN 802.1 la transmit-receive chain. The main goal is to see to what extent may fuzzy logic tools be integrated into end-to-end wireless transmission chains and to asses their performance. The fuzzy channel estimation solution was tested with monitoring of overall transmission parameters such as: packet error rate (PER), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and bit rate. Considering the fact that the fuzzy solution was integrated in a complex end-to-end transmission chain, the results may be seen as satisfactory and encouraging. The exploring nature of this implementation makes it a starting point for evaluating the opportunity and benefits of integrating fuzzy logic techniques in complex wireless transmission systems.
