This paper deals with the problem of simulating and controlling an oven for thermal treatments, in order the temperature of the pieces inserted into the oven to follow the temperature set through the imposed technological cycle. In the beginning of the paper is presented the automation system created to be able to adapt to any kind of resistive oven. This system is first controlled with a classical PID controller. In the second part of the paper are presented the results obtained using a predictive controller, and a comparison between the two methods.
