Button Hole Cholecystectomy (Mini-Lap) – A personal experience of 9500 cases in 20 years

BHC has been done on 9500 cases since 1992 with a 3-5 cm non muscle cutting transverse incision justbelow the xiphoid process of sternum over the right rectus muscle area. It is a cheap, painless, with shortoperation time and hospital stay .It has negligible morbidity and complications with quick recovery time andhighly cosmetic scar. All types of cases including CBD stones can be done satisfactorily by slight extension ifneed be in difficult cases without effecting its basic technique. Elimination of Co2 insufflation and itscomplications, costly instrumentation and special training are other benefits. It is firmly established that surgeonsshould give more consideration to this procedure and BHC should be considered as gold standard technique forcholecystectomy.
