Renewable Electricity in Estonia - Discrepancy between State Subsidies and Private Demand

The paper analyses the attitudes of Estonian population toward the electricity produced from renewable sources. The authors try to find out the preferences of Estonian work-age population when choosing the electricity package under the opening electricity market in January 2013 and their attitudes toward the environment friendliness of electricity produced from different energy raw materials. Using the contingent valuation method the additional willingness to pay of the Estonian working-age population for the electricity produced from renewable sources is assessed and compared to the amount of obligatory renewable energy charge.
