Dynamic Chaotic Approach to Sequence Generation for Use in Stochastic Wireless Channels

Chaotic sequences may be advantageous for secure communication. In this paper, a spreading sequence based dynamic direct sequence/spread spectrum (DSSS) communication system is proposed. The proposed scheme uses chaotic logistic map as the spreading sequences. The dynamic system automatically adjusts the length of the chaotic spreading sequence depending on fading situation. A flat fading channel uses a spreading sequence of lower length, whereas a severe fading channel may use a sequence of higher length to produce better performance. The performance of the system is analyzed and demonstrated by means of computer simulation with additive white Gaussian noise and Rayleigh fading channel conditions. Experiments reveal that the proposed dynamic system significantly outperforms a static chaotic code based system and Gold code. The performance of the system is measured in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER), Mutual Information and Computational time.
