Conservation of the Halocnemum strobilaceum halophytlc vegetation In Mediterranean habitats through the knowledge of seed features and germination behavior

The reproductive strategies for each particular population are closely related to environmental factors, and they are fundamental for management and conservation plans in threatened habitats. Seed germination response seems to be an important determinant for a successful management in halophytic ecosystems. Under this viewpoint, the seed features and the germination strategies, related to the environmental conditions of diverse populations of Halocnemum strobilaceum from Mediterranean basin, were compared.
