Deformation and Failure Mechanism of Coal Pillar of Driving Roadway along Goaf in Deep Mining

In order to further study on dynamic evolvement deformation and failure mechanism of coal pillar of driving roadway along goaf, the non-linear finite element software ANSYS was used and the stress and displacement change of coal pillar driving roadway along goaf, as well as the deformation and failure law of coal pillar were analyzed. The results show that the range of 0-1.5m of both sides of coal pillar is plastic zone. Additionally, the displacement decreases gradually from both sides to the center and the displacement distribution of transverse direction of coal pillar is characterized by the 'double-peaks', corresponding to stress distribution. This illustrate coal pillar in mining gradually failure along the direction of both sides to the center, corresponding to results of theoretical analysis and the field measured. And reasonable simulation is confirmed by the results and can provide theoretical basis and technical guidance for engineering application.
