The crude material, corncob, was treated with Cr~(6+). The product was used adsorbing material of Cr~(6+). With regard to corncobs, this paper studied the absorption time and modification effect between absorbent and Cr~(6+) . It could be concluded that the removal ratio of Cr~(6+) presents an increasing tendency over time and reaches the highest removal ratio at 97% after 250 minutes, which improved 18% compared with unmodified corncob. Besides, it also used branches and peanut shells as comparative materials. Through comparing the test data of three materials, it is found that corncob has a higher absorption rate of Cr~(6+) than peanut shells at 23% and branches at 11%, which suggests that corncob has the best absorbing effect on Cr~(6+). In recent years, how to manage heavy metals in the river has received widespread attention. Cellulose, the most abundant renewable resources in the world, is extremely wide. It can both contribute to reusing waste and improving the environment of water if the abundant cellulose of waste can be fully utilized. Corncob is a versatile material which is composed of cellulose, lignin and hemicellulose. Through using physical and chemical methods to process the daily agricultural and forestry waste [1] which contains cellulose component, a kind of functional polymer materials [2] which has good adsorption properties is made. The aim of this study is to identify the most effective adsorbent that can absorb heavy metals in water, thus playing an important role of environmental protection. Through the experiment, corncob, as raw material, can effectively absorb Cr~(6+) in water after being modified.
