Data Exchange between Relational Knowledge Bases in the Web of Data

An important component of the Web of Data is formed by data originally stored in relational databases. The relational data along with its schemes and integrity constraints is translated into a knowledge base, that we call a relational knowledge base (RKB), residing on the Web. It is important to preserve semantics in data-to-knowledge transformation, as well as in knowledge-to-knowledge exchange between two RKBs. We discuss these issues and propose an algorithm for checking whether a mapping between two RKBs is semantics preserving. The algorithm is based on the chase procedure.
