Mass media and the education crisis

Our study represents a complex answer to the question: How much does the mass-media generate/amplify today the crisis of education by fetishizing the information and discrediting the scholastic education? We start from a premise with axiomatic value: that a democratic society can't be conceived and can't exist without a free press. Therefore, the study makes no question of the liberty of the press in the opened societies, but it makes a scientific analysis the relation liberty - responsibility in mass-media, developing the springs and the mechanisms through which the transitive legitimacy of the mass-media products destructures (devalues) the social capital, amplifying the actual crisis of education. The case studies we present have a double importance: the demonstration of the ambivalent potential of mass-media in the society of knowledge and, avoiding generalizations, the highlighting of the role that the mystified sensational and the manipulative diversion have in the degradation of education's finalities.
