Our pilot training and assessment system has reached its limits. In our complex world of aviation it is simply impossible to train the infinite number of all possible abnormal and emergency situations as a means to effectively prepare our crews for their job. If we do not switch from inventory or hours based to competency based training we will be unable to further reduce accident rates, a frightening idea in view of the expected growth of the global civil aviation. The inventory based training and assessment system has reached its limits. This presentation will unravel the current competency dilemma and explain why MPL is an ab-initio training method that equips our crews with the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) to successfully handle the challenges of modern civil aviation operation.
