In this presentation we will discuss current and evolving designs for subsea control systems data networks. Subsea data networks are becoming increasingly more complex, handling larger amounts of data traffic, with ever increasing number of sensors. Like in a land based telephone network, we face problems of congestion, traffic with varying priority, damage to networks and re-routing around the damaged areas. In this presentation we will discuss these issues and show some ways in which these issues can be handled for subsea data networks. Topside, these techniques have been in common use for a long time, so the technology in itself is well known.
