Assembly of dry Carbon Preforms By a Z pinning technology - (PPT)

EADS CCR developed a reliable automated z pinning process for Assembly of Carbon RTM Preforms. This process could find application for manufacture of RTM composite Boxes. Validation of this process for structural applications brought next in the work frame of programs in collaboration with AIRBUS and Dassault Aviation. EADS CCR undertook some preliminary works for optimising the z pinning sequences for Preforms assembly. First interesting results have been obtained. 2 PHD thesis have been launched for a better understanding, optimisation, and possible simulation of the process. ALCAS PHD with ENSAE Toulouse, & Dassault Aviation, (launched in 2005) PHD with Hexcel Composites and Ecole des Mines St Etienne.(launched in 2005).
