This study investigated the influence of vibration on visual performance with the viewing condition of objects vibrating alone. Instead of using a vibrator, a software developed with Delphi programming language was used to simulate the vibrating environment. Observers performed a Landolt ring chart counting task during vibration at two directions (vertical, horizontal), three amplitudes (0,4 mm, 0,8 mm, 1,6 mm) and four frequencies (2 Hz, 4 Hz, 8 Hz, 16 Hz). Controlled trials of counting static Landolt ring chart were also performed. Visual performance was measured with the time spent to perform the task and accuracy. Physiological evaluation using Borg CR 10 scale was also measured to estimate the difficulty level of performing the task. The results showed both frequency and amplitude had significant effects on time and subjective rating, while vibrating direction affected accuracy significantly. The influence relating to vibration on visual performance was especially obvious when the visual angle was small.
