ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION ON LUMINAIRE EFFICACY AND COLOUR QUALITY OF LED DOWNLIGHTS

LED luminaires are used widely in general lighting for its less energy conservation. Less consumed power and more light output is the main aim of lighting product design to achieve higher efficacy. Manufacturers pay more attention to the energy conservation than other technical parameters. The importance of other characters, such as CCT and CRI, is same to the efficacy. We also shall pay attention to the light color quality for comfortable lighting environment while seeking high efficacy of LED downlights. In this paper we analyze the status of the recessed LED downlights in China including power, initial luminous flux, Efficacy, etc and evaluate these data by different standards requirements. And we also discuss the relationship between the LED downlight efficacy and the color quality by the statics data to help the consumers choose the right LED luminaires. In general LED downlights have more difficulty to gain high efficacy with the lower color temperature by statistical data.
