Tight shale gas is considered to be an unconventional resource because it cannot be produced without using the reservoir stimulation method. A new completion method is proposed to maximize the internal-flow surface area created from the injection. To prevent the prohibitive costs of drilling multiple vertical wells from the surface to the targeted depth interval, the multiple vertical tracks are branched from the horizontal well drilled either from the overburden layer or from under- burden layer, depending on the formation suitability. The examples presented in this paper reveal the significant increase of internal surface areas when the proposed method is used as compared to the existing methods, such as the multi-stage method.
