As emission limits in Europe become more stringent, NOxreduction projects are requiring more advanced technologies to reduce cost and increase system performance. In order to meet the lower capacity factors in coal fired units, owners and operators are looking at alternative solutions to reduce capital costs and improve NOx reduction. A layered approach using different technologies such as combustion modifications, SNCR and one layer of SCR catalyst is one such solution.
