Flue Gas Desulfurization Systems (FGD) Incorporated In a Unique Multi Functional Chimney Configuration

Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) is in an advanced implementation stages of a "Mega" Environmental Project, which incorporates installation of full environmental measures for ten (10) existing coal fired units, until 2016. Each unit will be equipped with Primary measures firing system upgrade, Selective Catalytic Reduction systems (SCR), Flue Gas Desulphurization Systems (FGD) and Flue Gas Conditioning systems (FGC). Environmental emissions will be lowered to challenging figures of 10010030 with future provisions for 505030. Units 5&6 at Orot Rabin Power Station (2X575MW) will incorporate a new unique multi functional chimney configuration. The key advantages of the application are compact space foot print, involving precious land saving of 30% at the Mediterranean Seashore. The project implementation involves high engineering capabilities, integration, construction and project management skills, with emphasis on maintainability and constructability. Full multi disciplinary engineering of the project is performed at Israel Electric Corporation Engineering Division, located in Haifa. Commonwealth Dynamics - USA (CDI) was nominated as the stack erection Contractor, and Doosan - Korea (DHI) is the Flue Gas Desulphurization system Supplier. Foundations have been completed and chimney shell is currently in advanced stages of construction. The project is scheduled to be commissioned in April 2014.
