摘要

Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) is used extensively in bleaching plants and chlorine dioxide generators in the paper industry. Evaluation of FRP equipment and pipe is vital to limiting failures and managing repair and replacement costs. This paper describes a non-destructive method that allows the strength and thickness of the FRP to be detennined, as well as corrosion barrier condition under certain conditions, without requiring shut-down. The analysis produces information about the remaining strength in FRP in addition to the condition of the corrosion barrier if still present. Results can allow the maintenance team to predict maintenance needs and the remaining service life of equipment. Examples are given of how the condition monitoring system has been used in a number of chemical services, including chlorine dioxide.
