As there is great uncertainty in the process of core melting, collapse, and formation of molten pool when severe accidents happen, it is very necessary to study the uncertainty of the molten pool. This paper analyses the uncertainty of two-layer and three-layer model, and compares the difference of the two models. The Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) is used to simulate the parameters' uncertainty. The results show that, the RPV could be easily in invalidation, especially in the bottom metal layer of the molten pool. Some method which could prevent the UO2 reducing to metal uranium is recommended in the IVR strategy. This paper has some directive significance on future IVR strategy research and also provides theoretical support to safety evaluation of PWR plants.
