The coal seam gas (CSG) industry is rapidly growing in Australia. The extraction of coal seam gas results in the production of large quantities of brackish water. It is estimated that in Queensland from 126 to 280 giga-litres per year of water could be produced. A map showing the areas indentified for potential extraction of CSG in eastern Australia is provided. Aggregate gas and water production curves are presented to provide an indication of the scale of the industry's proposed output.
