Stripline Fed Hollow Dielectric Resonator Antenna-in-Package with/without Metal Shielding

In this paper, an antenna-in-package (AiP) configuration is proposed with hollow dielectric resonator antenna fed by short-circuited stripline through an aperture. Two antenna prototypes without and with the four walls of hollow shielded are designed and the -10 dB bandwidths are 31.7% and 15.7%, respectively. An isolation over 60 dB is achieved between the antenna and the microstrip line packaged inside when the hollow region is completely shielded with metal layers, which is very suitable for the applications of AiP and RF system-in-package.
