The design and fabrication of a novel dual-polarized crossed-vertically-fed microstrip patch antenna are presented. Differential feeding method has been meticulously evolved to form a unique excitation technique. The proposed method exhibits extremely high isolation of better than 52 dB between horizontal and vertical polarizations in the entire frequency band (2.7 - 2.9 GHz) while scanning up to 45°. The proposed antenna has the advantage of utilizing low-cost printed circuit board fabrication technology while presenting high-performance electromagnetic characteristics. Additionally, this technique mitigates the surface wave issues associated with conventional microstrip antenna arrays.
