This paper presents a compact circularly-polarized substrate integrated waveguide antenna for the use in a be-amsteering array in 5 th generation mobile devices. The circular polarization is achieved through a compact notched-septum polarizer which is optimized for SIW s. Radiation is achieved through a dielectric lens with the addition of via extensions on either side for smaller beamwidth in azimuth and higher gain. A bandwidth of 700 MHz from 27.4 GHz to 28.1 GHz is achieved with worst case HPBW s of 70° in elevation and 60° in azimuth and a gain of 6.2 dB to 6.6 dB. Axial ratios of better than 3 dB are achieved in both planes.
