Construction of new energy efficient buildings adhering to evolving model building code requirements is a recent development that is gaining momentum.Polyisocyanurate foam insulation (PIR) is a commonly used thermal insulation in the building and construction (roofing, exterior and interior wall assembly, attic, crawl spaces etc) segment.New and existing insulation products need to achieve flammability requirements while maintaining a robust sustainability profile. This study evaluates the development of Class A sheathing foam product in accordance to the model International Building Code Requirements (IBC-2018).Utilization of analytical tools and lab-scale test methods as a route to the development of physical, thermal, fire and other related properties benchmarked against ASTM C-1289 and other code related requirements will be reviewed.
