A water shortage problem is an urgent issue faced by humankind nowadays. An attractive strategy to cope with this crisis is desalination which utilizes saline water occupying more than 97% of water resources in the earth. Conventional desalination technologies including thermal distillation and reverse osmosis are being wildly used worldwide and offering most of the desalinated water. Currently, reverse osmosis is the most competitive technology over other desalination technologies due to its efficient energy use.
