Biomass materials can be converted to chemicals and/or fuels by using thermochemical conversion processes. Fast pyrolysis of biomass is one of the most promising technologies to utilize lingocellulosic biomass and a highly complex process which is influenced by many factors, such as the properties of raw materials and the operating conditions. In the pyrolysis process, biomass is heated to moderate temperatures (400-600°C) in the absence of oxygen to produce liquid, solid and gaseous products.
