Diagonal Offset Raman Spectroscopy (DORS) provides noninvasive chemical specific analysis of the interior of catalyst bodies. This technique eliminates the risk associated with traditional laboratory-based techniques, such as UV or Raman microspectroscopy, which involve bisection of the catalyst body, where environmental changes can occur. DORS is a modification of Spatially Offset Raman Spectroscopy (SORS) optimized for the study of catalyst bodies. During DORS a series of Raman spectra are collected where the distance (offset) between the point of illumination by the laser and the point of detection is varied. The greater the offset, the deeper the probed region of the catalytic material.
