@@ The carboxylic acid amide (CAA) fungicides are widely used to control oomycete plant pathogens causing downy mildew and late blight. The group of CAAs is listed under FRAC code 40 and currently includes dimethomorph, flumorph, iprovalicarb, benthiavalicarb, valifenalate and mandipropamid (MPD). Previous mode of action studies conducted with different CAAs pointed towards inhibition of lipid biosynthesis, cell wall deposition and microfilament organization as possible primary targets. However, the molecular target of any CAA fungicide remained unknown until recently.
