摘要

@@ Dieldrin is one of the persistent organic pollutants (POPs) targeted for reduction and eventual elimination by the Stockholm Convention, an international treaty that was adopted in May 2001. Aldrin is a POP that is transformed into dieldrin through oxidation in soils. These compounds were widely used as insecticides on arable land in Japan as well as all over the world. Although the registration of these insecticides lapsed in 1973 in Japan, dieldrin is still detected in arable soils, as well as in cucumber fruits, at concentrations exceeding the residue limit (0. 02 ppm) set by the Japanese Food Sanitation Law.
