Integrating Dynamic Simulation and Training for Efficient Design, Startup and Operation Insuring Against Future Disasters

Oil and gas exploration and production companies invest heavily in sizeable assets that must be delivered at the lowest possible cost and then optimized to operate efficiently and safely. While much attention is paid to physical assets and the implementation of the latest technical innovations, operating personnel continue to be trained and developed using techniques perfected in, and suited for, the last century. In fact, training is often an afterthought; something that needs to be ticked off some unit-commissioning checklist. In light of this dichotomy we must ask ourselves – why is the training of old not suited for today, and what are the consequences of not training to competency, and what should we be doing differently?
