This paper provides a study that evaluates the behavior under seismic events, of steel buildings structured with eccentrically braced frames -EBF- designed with Shear Links. The evaluation was performed both using nonlinear static analysis and nonlinear dynamic analysis; collapse mechanisms are studied for each model. The effect of strong ground motion characteristic in Mexico on global response of EBF system is analysed. Results indicate that, in general, earthquakes from transform mechanism generate a major demand in low rise buildings, while, subduction events produce high demand in high-rise buildings. The level of simultaneous yielding and hardening in the links was investigated in order to verify demands on columns and propose design recommendations.
