The objective of this study is to assess the steel construction feasibility with Partially Restrained (PR) connections, in regions of moderate and high seismicity in Mexico. Results on the variations of angular rigidities in the connections of steel structures are presented in this paper. A parametric study, which includes an analysis of 6-story buildings, is also discussed herein. The building models, which were proposed according to the professional design practice in Mexico, have typical plan layouts, and were designed in accordance with the 2003 Mexico City code. The results indicate that this type of connections have a great influence in the global response of the structure, as well as in individual structural elements.
