In this paper, aluminum-based metal matrix composites (AMC) reinforced with in-situ Fe_2Al_5 intermetallics particles were produced by cold sprayed Al/Fe powder mixture with different composition ratio. The annealing effect on the cold-sprayed Al/Fe composites for intermetallic compounds formation and dependences of types and content of intermetallic compounds on annealing temperature and powder composition ratio were investigated. The results showed that the Fe_2Al_5 intermetallics appeared in the Al matrix after annealing at 500°C. The content of Fe_2Al_5 phase increased with raising annealing temperature and Fe composition ratio in feedstock. The Fe particles in Al matrix were fully consumed via compounding reaction with Al at 550°C and remarkable fragmentation of Fe_2Al_5 particles occured and the sources for this were discussed.
