The authors recently discovered a new degradation reaction of poly(substituted acetylene)s1 whose one-handed helical conformation in the main chain was stabilized by the intromolecular hydrogen bonds,2 named selective cycloaromatization reaction (SCAT) (Figure 1),which has the following many unusual and useful points.
