Strategic Alliances in the Context of Strategic Partnerships from the Point of View of the Czech Republic

The paper is dedicated to the problems of strategic partnerships, particularly in the form of strategic alliances, with respect to the conditions of the Czech Republic. The paper aims to characterize strategic alliances emphasizing strategic alliances that are not based on joint ownership as one of the alternative forms of strategic partnerships, to evaluate the present trends and to identify the possibilities of institutional support of strategic alliances on the basis of examples from the Czech Republic. Firstly, individual forms of strategic partnerships, including potential forms of strategic alliances, are characterized from the theoretical point of view. Secondly, the authors deal with new trends in the area of strategic alliances in the context of strategic networks, triple helix model and supply chains. After that, the paper evaluates the situation in the areas of mergers, acquisitions and strategic alliances in the Czech Republic, and the attention is also paid to the European Union's project activities supporting establishment and development of strategic alliances.
