Arsenic accumulation in natural solids and its later release to aquifers is an environmental problem. The main As sources are atmospheric deposition (As~v) and anoxic groundwater (As~(III)), but chemical and surface properties of carrying solids, that interacted directly with the aqueous phase, can play an important role in As binding. The adsorption affinity of dissolved As~v and As~(III) to soils, stream sediments and peats was investigated using the model solutions of As~v or As~(III) and homogenized samples of different natural solids.
