A combined organic matter and water management treatment was tried as a mitigation approach to alleviate arsenic accumulation in rice. Two sources of organic matter in a combination of three treatments and three water regimes in addition to Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) techniques were followed. Plants were grown in the presence or absence of 1 mg/L Arsenic (As) contaminated water. Yield parameters, arsenic accumulation in rice grains and other plant compartments in addition to the fate of As vis-à-vis organic matter addition were examined. The presence of organic matter had a positive impact on the yield parameters including reduced As accumulation in the grains.
