Research on the Settlement Causes and Tourism Development of Ancient Village in Western Beijing

Mentougou district locates near to Beijing. Factors of the formation and development of the ancient village in this region linked closely with the Imperial Capital. In modern times, without the influence of the large industry, these ancient village remain the original style completely and provide the rich resources for the travel today. Articles have a research on the causes of the villages, analysis the status of the tourism by SWOT Analytical Method. It propose that strengthen cooperation between the ancient villages by effective integration of the region's natural and cultural heritage, develop the village and the tourism resources around the village as a whole, and establish "ancient village in western Beijing " brand tourism. With the investigation of the village, the author proposes suggestions and zoning plan to the cultural tourism of the village in western Beijing More than 30 villages in the western of Beijing, Mentougou District, which have great cultural value, constitute a large group of the ancient villages. In November 2003, the Ministry of Construction and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage published the Chinese historical and cultural town (village) announcement. The first batch has 12 historical and cultural villages, Chuandixia village is one of them. Subsequently, Lingshui and Liuliqu village are starting to be classified as the Chinese historical and cultural village. In December 2012, Chuandixia, Lingshui, Liuliqu, Huanglingxicun and Weizishui village were selected by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Culture, he State Administration of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Finance jointly assessed "Chinese traditional villages directory". Beijing government policy research unit have made some research on the protection and utilization of the ancient village in the Beijing's suburbs. It points out that these traditional villages and residential, which keeps the courtyard of the Qing Dynasty as main body, have the rigorous spatial order and the central axis. They are the typical example of the traditional houses in the northern of China, the collection of ethical and moral concepts, the crystallization of Beijing and Chinese culture, and valuable non-renewable wealth. Jingxi ancient village, which has important historical, cultural, artistic and scientific value, is historical and cultural heritage with deep rural culture connotation. It is considered as the very important parts in the ancient settlements culture in northern of China and the tourism resources in Beijing.
