Invisible Hand and Tangible Context

摘要

Through the comparison of two cities,this paper discusses two different outcomes resulting from two different driving forces in urban development processes.It criticizes the urban development strategy under macro-control,which promotes human intervention and disregards the context-style.It points out that urban development should not only respect top-down urban planning policies,but also take into account the roles of the natural driving forces such as cultural,economic,and social factors,which originate from the conjunct activity of every participant of a city,as well.It also examines current trends of ancient city rehabilitations around the country.
