Industrial Situation and Development Strategies of Proso Millet in China

摘要

Proso millet is an important crop of dry land in China, its edible value and forage value have vital meaning for dry farming development. In order to obtain the development ways of proso millet industry, we analyzed the proso millet important position, situations and problems in arid regions, which may have effects on the proso millet industrial development. Proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) is the main crop in semi-arid and arid regions in China. Nowadays, proso millet is one of healthy food withthe improving of dietary pattern and diet view, which may lead to large market demand, and have better prospect for proso millet industrial development. Therefore, enhancing research of proso millet breeding and cultivation, popularizing cultivation technique of drought resistance, and exploiting proso millet healthy food, may have significant effect on agricultural sustainable development in semi-arid and arid regions in China.
