Satellite payloads configuration design (SPCD) is an important part of satellite overall design. Generally, configuration design problem should solve two issues, i.e., modeling method and solution approach. This paper focused on the solution approach for configuration design of satellite payload based on common platform. First, a hierarchical tree of product structure is built to describe SPCD model. Secondly, a solution approach based on multi-agent system (Called as CMAS) is proposed to solve the SPCD optimization problem. The multi-agent system consists of the following two kinds of agent: Configuration Agent and Management Agent. A feasible configuration scheme obtained by Configuration Agents is optimized using CMAS. Finally, a case of MSG-1 payloads configuration design is used to verify the proposed method.
