Energy efficiency is a systemic approach. Motors represent one of the single largest consumers of energy in industry today. Energy is wasted in motor systems due to inefficient and ineffective control methods primarily in two areas: 1). Mechanical flow control (pumps, fans, compressors) 2). Wasted energy recovery (regeneration of braking energy or inertial energy).
