Simple Thermal R Testing 1. Useful for materials with Thermal Impedance > than about 0.3 to 0.4 C in2/W. 2. Samples not thicker than about 2mm. Above 2mm thickness, edge heat losses on some sample test set-up can influence results so that thermal impedance is measured too p low. 3. For a quick and easy TM, with decent test results, the TM is quite good. 4. The Simple Test Method may better reflect the actual end use application conditions vs. a more controlled, very flat, smooth surfaces of an ASTM D5470 TM. 5.
