The environmental quality of the urban solid waste deposit from Fieni and an analysis of the size of the impact triggered by its closure

The new concept concerning the solid waste management in Dambovita County has in view the reduction of the large number of the existing deposits and the adoption of zonal sorting and depositing systems, well controlled from an ecological viewpoint. This study presents a part of the results of a research project referring to the quality of the environmental factors and an analysis of the size of the impact triggered by the closure of the urban solid waste deposit from Fieni, which was proposed for closure by means of a governmental decision, along with other waste deposits from Romania [1]. It has been noticed that the environmental factors air and water did not exceed the maximum admissible quantity in point of pollutants in the waste deposit area, while in the case of the soils it has been noted that the imposed limits were exceeded for all the parameters under analysis. The analysis of the size of the impact triggered by the closure of the waste deposit from Fieni highlights the fact that this action generates a low and local impact, and the positive effects compensate the negative effects.
